1-800-GET-THIN Being Investigated By FDA
The Food and Drug Administration, as well as various law enforcement entities within the state of California, are investigating 1-800-GET-THIN, the moniker taken by a group of clinics that conducted Lap-Band surgeries. The FDA alleges that the ads featured around Southern California were misleading and that officials are looking into whether the company violated laws pertaining to healthcare fraud, identity theft, and more. The company had to previously remove their ads because they did not detail some of the possible risks inherent with the procedure.
