Be Bright Initiative Promotes Bike Visibility at Wisconsin University
The Be Bright Initiative was recently in force on the campus of the University of Wisconsin. As part of this operation, an organization called Safe Communities partnered with the college’s police department to hand out bike lights to those persons who rode at night without such safety devices. The Dane County Bike Association provided the grant that made this possible. The law only requires a light to be placed on the front of the bicycle, and even though violating this law typically entails a $125 citation, officers opted to use this instance as more of an educational opportunity. The event continues next week.
