Bicycle Safety Promoted in Lowell, Massachusetts
The city of Lowell, Massachusetts, is attempting to improve bicycle safety in the area by imposing the image of a commuter on a bicycle along streets that are meant to be shared between cyclists and automobiles. The markers have been going up to signal to motor vehicle operators that a bike lane is running alongside them. At the same time, many people in the area are encouraging bicyclists to further encourage safety by wearing a bike helmet whenever they commute.
