British Columbia Police to Target Distracted Drivers

Distracted drivers will face increased scrutiny from North Shore police officers in a new campaign to reduce automobile accidents in British Columbia resulting from texting and other distracting activities. Under current laws in the area, it is illegal to even hold an electronic device while driving, including a cellphone that is set to speaker phone. Police hope that increased enforcement of such laws will cut down on fatalities from distracted driving, which is the third most common cause of fatal accidents in British Columbia.
