Cellphone Accident Preventer Jams Phone Signal, Reports to Police

Followers of this blog have already heard about hardware recently developed by researchers at India’s Anna University of Technology that impairs drivers’ mobile cellphone signals. A new report goes into further detail on this RFID-utilizing technology, known as the Cellphone Accident Preventer.  The technology allows passengers to continue to use their phones, but when a driver attempts to do the same, the system triggers a jammer and an antenna to disable the mobile signal in a localized area above the driver’s seat. Police are alerted when the offense occurs, leading to the potential for a ticket to be issued for the phone usage.
