Chicago Car Wash Employees Subjected to Poor Conditions

A recent University of Illinois study has shown that car wash workers in and around Chicago often have to work under improper and occasionally unlawful conditions. One big problem is that employees are often unaware of their rights. Violations uncovered include a lack of an adequate space to take lunch breaks, no access to no-charge drinking water free of contaminants, lack of safety equipment, and earnings far below minimum wage. Plus, over 80% of employees were not warned about workplace hazards.
