Chicago Takes Cues From Denmark in Creating Bike Safety Camp
On a recent trip to Denmark, four members of the Chicago City Council got to view firsthand how a kids’ bicycle safety camp was operated. They were so impressed with what they saw that they’ve decided to institute a pilot program in their own city. 80 kids will take part in a series of activities that encourage safe riding practices and offer tips on reading maps and selecting a route. Free helmets and bike will also be given out at the week-long event.
