Columnist Blames Rise in Pedestrian Fatalities on Distracted Driving
While there was a notable decrease in traffic accidents in recent years in both Canada and the United States, pedestrian fatalities seem to be on the rise, and one columnist believes that distracted driving has led to the uptick. A study was done that showed people using a cell phone or sending a text are more dangerous than a person who is drunk. The fines for driving while using a cell phone while driving are over $100 in Ontario, but people continue to break the law.
