Corner Crash Test to Become Standard When Bringing Vehicles to Market
Big news arose this week when word came from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety that many luxury car lines received poor grades when put through an overlap crash test. This test involves the corner of a vehicle coming into contact with another object, and the test will soon become standard among the litany of tests conducted before a vehicle is brought to market. Although head-on collision damage is typically offset with a safety cage, such corner damage is not. Estimates peg 25% of injuries and deaths as occurring because of such corner crashes.
