Dallas Street Showcases the Benefits of a Road Diet
In Dallas, Knox Street recently benefited from changes resulting from the Dallas Complete Streets plan. One columnist is using that street as an example of how positive an impact a road diet can be for local streets. On Knox Street, the four lane road was reduced to one lane going each way and a center lane that could be used by turning for vehicles in either direction. The other removed lane was converted into a bike lane. Vehicles now tend to reduce their speed, and pedestrians are slightly more common.
