Assembly Bill 1536, which the Governor of California signed on Friday, will allow drivers to use a hands-free communications device to send a text. A new report discusses the fines that people can expect to pay if they are in breach of the measure. For violating this new law, the base penalty is $20, with a $50 fine on all subsequent offenses. However, with additional fees and penalties, the amount could get up to a whopping $280 for subsequent offenses.
