Drivers Continue to Use Phones in Calgary Despite Ban
Calgary drivers think they are avoiding distracted driving by holding a speaker phone, but police warn this is still an offense under Alberta’s distracted driving ordinance that was put into effect one year ago. Distracted driving is on the rise in the area. When the law first came out, they heavily advertized it, but now people are beginning to relapse. Nearly 5,000 citations have been issued from October through the end of July.
