Energy Bill Amendment Questions Safety of High MPG Vehicles
A new amendment to the House Energy Bill was passed recently and will require the Transportation Department to conduct an analysis of the benefits of vehicles that get more miles per gallon. There is a brewing controversy over a bill requiring automobile manufacturers to start producing higher mpg vehicles by 2025. The analysis done by the Transportation Department will look into the number of jobs that might be lost due to supposed lower demand of higher priced vehicles. They will also look into whether or not the cars will be less safe than current vehicles.
