FDA Approves Three Vaccine Formulations for This Year’s Flu Season

With flu season just about upon us, the Food and Drug Administration has announced that they have given their approval to this year’s influenza vaccine formulation.  They have determined that the strains that pose the greatest risk to public health this year, and thus the vaccines being distributed, are A/California/7/2009, A/Victoria/361/2011, and B/Wisconsin/1/2010.  The FDA recommends vaccines for the prevention of illness, as even a strain that doesn’t completely match up with a vaccine can have the risks associated with it mitigated through such a measure.
