Greenville, South Carolina Citizens Debate Effectiveness of Bike Lanes

Council members and activists in Greenville, South Carolina are split on future road renovations geared toward preserving bike safety in the city. One side is for making the road safer for bicyclists by giving such persons bike lanes and shrinking the size of regular vehicle lanes, thus reducing the speed of nearby traffic.  Supporters say this would be a boost to businesses and the economy, as bike lanes increase overall property value.  The other side sees it as nothing more than a safety hazard due to the need for cars to veer off course to avoid bikes.
