Haier Pays $850,000 Penalty Over Blender Safety Allegations
An $850,000 penalty has been assessed against Haier America by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The penalty comes on the heels of 60 incidents involving a defective series of blenders. One person even reportedly suffered a laceration to their hand. The CPSC alleged that Haier did not adequately make the defect known to the proper agencies. Haier denies these assertions but will pay the fine to settle the matter.
