Illinois Crash Fatalities Rise Due to Motorcycles, Distracted Driving

The state of Illinois has seen an uptick in the number of vehicle fatalities which occurred this year.  Authorities blame the 9% increase on warm weather that has brought more motorists, especially motorcyclists, onto state roads.  533 have died this year in the state, a 45-person jump from 2011.  The Secretary of the Department of Transportation thinks that distracted driving and more motorcycles have led to the numbers.  Chicago-area intoxicated drivers have also become more common.
