Johns Hopkins Used Painted Shoes to Raise Pedestrian Safety Awareness

Today, Johns Hopkins aims to promote pedestrian safety in a rather unique way.  Staff  and students alike will be painting yellow stripes on 3,000 pairs of shoes and then hanging them around a fence in the area.  That’s about the number of pedestrian collisions that occurred in Maryland in 2011.  The effort is meant to bring especial attention to the current distracted walking trend that’s become so prevalent.  The Road Scholar program is putting on the display.
