Louisiana Enacts Law Requiring Cellphone Safety Education in Schools
A law that went into effect a couple days ago in the state of Louisiana tasks public school teachers with teaching children about cellphone safety. The education is begins at the elementary level. It covers such things as how to avoid cyber bullying and other types of threats, the importance of not dispersing identification information to an untrusted source, and how to safely use social networks. Some parents feel the legislation goes too far, arguing that parents should be discussing these things with their kids, not teachers.
