Maine Sees Increase in Motorcycle Fatalities

Motorcycle accidents are on the rise in Maine, according to a new report.  The Bureau of Highway Safety’s Director said that 2012 has seen 13 fatal crashes this year, a jump of six fatalities from the same time last year.  Typically, these accidents result from an automobile operator not seeing the motorcycle until it’s too late.  A spokesperson for Motorcycle Rider Education of Maine noted that many accidents are likely the result of the increased number of motorcycles on the road during summer months.
