Michigan’s Charlevoix and Emmet Counties Not Citing Many Texters
On July 1, 2010, the state of Michigan instituted a ban on texting while behind the wheel, but few tickets have been given in the counties of Emmet and Charlevoix. In Emmet County, only seven tickets have been handed out to motorists, while Charlevoix County has only cited three motorists. If someone is given a ticket in the state, they are forced to pay a $100 fine for their first offense and $200 for their second offense.
