Minnesota State Patrol Calls For Adherence to Bike Safety Laws
The state of Minnesota recently saw its fourth bicycle fatality of the year, and the Minnesota State Patrol is taking the moment to spread the word about the importance of bicycle safety. A spokesperson emphasizes the fact that bicycles are required to follow the same rules as automobile drivers, a fact that’s even more important given the increased prevalence of such conveyances. He said the leading cause of crashes is failure of both cyclists and motor vehicle drivers to yield the right of way, followed by bicyclists ignoring safety signage and drivers being distracted.
