Missouri Coalition Seeking to Curtail Distracted Driving Dangers

The Meramac Regional Planning Commission in Missouri is getting serious about cracking down on distracted driving.  The Meramac Region Coalition for Roadway Safety Subcommittee, formed in January 2012, is working with the state’s Transportation Department and local police officials to encourage proper driving among motorists, especially as it relates to distracted driving.  A member of the Missouri Highway Patrol iterates that texting is not our only unsafe habit.  Adjusting a radio, having a pet unharnessed, consuming food and beverages, and smoking are all behaviors that cause inattention.
