Official Says Distracted Driving Remains a Threat in Illinois
The Illinois Department of Transportation continues to fight against texting and driving. Although illegal in the state since 2010, the problem persists, continuing to cause accidents. The Director of Safety Programs for the DOT warns that records can be sought out if cellphone use is suspected as a cause for an accident. However, until parents and society at large consider this behavior as unacceptable, he cautions that there may not be a significant change among drivers.
