Pascagoula, Mississippi Car Seat Check Uncovers Rampant Misuse
At a Walmart in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the Gulf Coast Child Passenger Safety Coalition conducted a check of more 50 child car seats. They replaced more than half of them. Parents who came to the event, which was also supported by Singing River Health System, were shown the proper way to restrain a child in the seat. Having the proper car seat is essential, but the parent also has to make sure their child is secure in that seat. At the check held this weekend, 100% of parents were found to be using the seats incorrectly.
