Idaho recently passed a law making it illegal to text and drive, but it’s important to know what the ban constitutes. The law is meant to decrease accidents caused by distracted driving. The ban also includes driving while checking your email, Googling information, and being on Facebook or Twitter. Under this ban, drivers are still allowed to make phone calls. If an officer pulls a driver over, they can ask to see their cell phone but the driver does not have to hand the phone over. If the officer and driver disagree over the citation, the driver can plead not guilty in court.
