Safety of Hot Car Alarms Questioned by NHTSA

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reportedly stated that technology which issues an alarm should a child be left alone in a hot car is not as reliable as it should be.  They allege that simple things like cellphone interference and liquid contact could throw the whole system off-kilter.  In Florida’s Palm Beach County, it’s against the law for minivans not to have such alarms installed.  To prevent disaster, parents and guardians are advised to keep an eye on their kids and their keys and to always check vehicles when exiting.
