Santa Barbara Set to Improve Pedestrian Safety

The Santa Barbara City Council has approved measures that would seek ways to improve pedestrian safety in the area.  The improvements are focused on Eastside and revolve around compiling input from local residents and figuring out how best to balance short-term fixes and long-term changes that might require extensive funding.  Many residents have expressed their concern that the area is no longer safe, and improvements are likely to include upcoming crossing signals and measures that let a motorist better see pedestrians.
