Tracheostomy Tubes Recalled by Covidien For Leakage Threat
Size eight adult tracheostomy tubes have been recalled by Covidien because of the possibility of disconnection or leakage. These items consist of reusable cannulae, an inner and outer one, and these two components can become detached from one another. The tube can also leak. Doctors are being asked to remove the tubes when it’s safe to do so, and if it’s not advisable at the moment, care should be taken to watch over the patient. The affected tubes have a product code of 8FEN or 8LPC and were available until June of this year.
