Tracker Marine Recalls Trailstar Trailers for Potential Crash Hazard

A trailer recall has been necessitated because of the danger the units might potentially pose to highway safety.

Tracker Marine has issued a voluntary recall of their Trailstar Tahoe, Nitro, and Nitro Sport boat trailers.  Each of the items was produced between the end of September of last year and May 13, 2012.  589 trailers in total fall within the scope of the recall, and each of the trailers will be of the 2012 or 2013 model year.

The recall was initiated because of concerns over the brake actuator shell.  Problems with a bracket welded to this trailer component could lead the master cylinder shaft rod to experience limited motion.  Limited motion might then lead to overheating of the brakes and wheel bearing failure.  This would increase the possibility of a crash taking place, endangering anyone onboard as well as other motorists.

Owners will be notified by Tracker Marine, and once that happens, no-cost repairs will be made by dealers when affected consumers bring their trailers in.  These repairs will consist of a new brake actuator being placed into the vehicles.  Notices should be sent out at the beginning of next month.

Anyone with questions or concerns is being advised to get in touch with Tracker Marine directly.  The campaign number being used is TS-0027.
