TRW Automotive Touts Revamped Pedestrian Protection System
The TRW Automotive Holdings Corporation is touting the benefits of an improved system that they say can better identify when a pedestrian impact has occurred. The technology, known as the Pedestrian Protection System, uses flexible tubing that surrounds a vehicle and measures pressure to determine where the impact occurred and relate that data to automakers determined to preserve European five star safety ratings. They hope to start production by 2016.
