Virginia Texting Legislation Under Fire In Wake of Tragedy
Even though records show that a driver was texting on the night that his vehicle killed a college student along the road, the court had to drop charges of reckless driving and instead find that the driver was only guilty of a $20 minor traffic infraction as specified under a 2009 law. Virginia has already failed at least eight times to enact distracted driving laws even though there have been numerous deaths due to distracted driving and most all neighboring states already have tough bans in place.
